Oh, this is not you everyday romance. Nope, no sitting on the front porch swing, holding hands and drinking lemonade in this book! This is definitely a dark “romance” that contains some disturbing scenes. Now that I have that all out of the way, this book was one mind-blowing, shocking, gritty tale of revenge and obsession…and I was glued to the pages!
Rafe Mason is out of prison and he has only one thing on his mind…revenge. Alex is the reason that Rafe spent eight years in prison for a crime that he didn’t commit. He is angry and hell bent on making her suffer the same way that he did. Alex always had a crush on her older brother’s best friend, but he was older and unattainable…and don’t get me started on her step-brother!!
Alex is hiding many secrets. Her life has been far from easy and she regrets the things that she has done. She is guilt ridden and shamed for things that have happened over the years. Despite the fact that Rafe is holding her captive, humiliating her, and wants to ruin and damage her, she still desires him and the man that he used to be.
This story goes far beyond obsession. The relationships and characters are so warped and twisted that they will have your mind spinning. Torrent is a definitely a suspenseful, raw, and wild ride. It is the first installment in a series that will leave you wanting more. I can’t wait to read the second book!
