The Other People
By C.B. Everett

There’s nothing that gets the blood pumping more than the idea of being trapped somewhere. When ten people from different walks of life wake up in a big, old mansion, they are confused as to why they are there and how they got there. In order for them to be released, they must find a missing young woman before their twelve hours run out.

The chapters are told from the characters’ perspectives. This worked perfectly for this novel. It gives the reader the chance to get to know each character more personally. I wanted to find out why these particular people were chosen. Is there a common bond between them? There are also chapters from the Beast in the Cellar. Yes, that was creepy, however, if I am being perfectly honest, the Beast was my favorite character, and I am sure that he or she would love to know that.

Not only do these people have only twelve hours to find a missing woman, but someone in the house is killing them off one at a time, and let me tell you, they die a gruesome death. Naturally, it’s always best if everyone can work together in order to find the woman and get out of there, but with such different people and a frightening and tense situation, you know that personalities are going to clash.

The Other People pulled me in quickly and kept me flipping the pages. I have read a few locked room mysteries before, but this one took a different spin, and I appreciated that. It kept my suspicious mind racing and my amateur sleuth skills working overtime. Did I trust any of the characters? Absolutely not.

The Other People was an entertaining read. With any novel in this genre, a good, jaw-dropping twist is always key, and I can assure you that I did not see that twist coming, and despite my sleuthing, that is exactly what I want.
