This was just what I was in the mood for (I love it when that happens). This was also my first time reading a novel by Cecelia Ahern, so I also love when I have more novels by an author to indulge in.
Love, Rosie is written in epistolary form. It is a series of emails, letters, notes, and instant messages between the characters. Not to worry though. While you may be thinking that it would be difficult to get into the story and the characters’ lives, it wasn’t. The story flowed effortlessly. I felt like I was right beside Rosie for the big moments of her life, living them right along with her, the good times and the bad.
This novel is about Rosie Dunne and her friendship with Alex Stewart. Right from the get-go, their friendship was solid and meant to be. I was only a few pages into the novel when I was laughing out loud at their messages to each other when they were only about seven years old. Their friendship was a constant through the highs and lows of their lives. I was able to watch them grow up throughout their series of letters and emails over the years.
Oh, Rosie Dunne. I loved this character. Did she have an easy go of it? No. I did shake my head at her at times, but I always wanted the very best for her. She deserved her own slice of happiness, and I was waiting on pins and needles for her time to finally come.
This novel put a smile on my face, made me laugh, brought a tear to my eye, and made my heart beat a little faster. I witnessed Rosie grow up, be a daughter, a sister, a mother, a wife, and a friend. It was just a wonderful story filled with so much heart, and I can’t wait to read more by Cecelia Ahern in the near future.
