2 Book Lovers Reviews
Well, it’s that time of year again, to sing the adult version of “School’s Out” and stop wearing pants for a week or two. Perhaps you’re going to bite that bullet and take that long awaited family vacation, or you may just want to stay the hell to home and sit by the pool and avoid all the stress. Well, whatever it is, you’re going to need some books. Here are some of my favorites that you might want to dig into or take a bite out of.
Just "click" on the book title to read my review.
- Camp Damascus - By Chuck Tingle – What is more nostalgic and summer-y than summer camp. This camp may leave you with a few more demons than you came in with. Chuck Tingle will take you to that summer camp that you never really wanted.
- The Song of Achillies - By Madeline Miller – I can’t think of a better way to spend the summer than beaching your boat on the shore of the Mediterranean and chilling – agreed, ten years might be a bit on the long side, but thankfully Miller only focuses on a small portion of Achillies’ stay on the shore of Illium.
- Nothin' But a Good Time - By Tom Beaujour – Nothing screams out summer vacation like songs from your youth. This is a great look back at the songs and artists that filled my summers with great music.
- The Wolf in the Whale - By Jordanna Brodsky – I’ve always loved reading a book set in the cold during those really hot months; I don’t know why, perhaps others suffering in the cold makes me appreciate the warmth even more or it could be that the cold from the book cuts the heat and humidity.
- Wanderers - By Chuck Wendig – This is the ultimate road trip and who doesn’t love a summer road trip. This one is an intense trip across the American landscape.
I’m going to try to be realistic about my own reading plans; what I am really in the mood for and what will I have time for.
House of Bone and Rain - By Gabino Iglesias
The Hitchcock Hotel - By Stephanie Wrobel
Falling Down - By Guillermo Del Torro and Chuck Hogan
Shadowlocked - By David Moody
Small Town Horror - By Ronald Malfi
Do you have any book recommendations for me? I'd love to hear them!
Happy Reading!
