Abby Jimenez can make her readers laugh, like, spit-out-their-coffee laugh, but she can also tug at your heartstrings and make you feel every emotion imaginable.
If you haven’t read The Friend Zone yet, start there. The Happy Ever After Playlist can be read as a standalone, however, if you’re planning on reading The Friend Zone, please do, because there are spoilers for this book. Trust me, you won’t regret reading both of these books.
This book has to have the ultimate meet-cute! I’m not talking about the two main characters, oh, no, I am talking about how Sloan met Tucker the dog. Yes, Tucker did cause Sloan and Jason to meet, but the manner in which the dog forced himself into Sloan’s life was just too adorable and hilarious. In my opinion, Tucker is the true hero of this novel.
I loved the rapport, the banter, and the chemistry between Sloan and Jason. Sloan deserved to find happiness, and I just wanted her to let herself find it. She’s a great character that I rooted for from the very first moment that I was introduced to her.
The Happy Ever After Playlist is a well-rounded novel. It’s a rock star romance and so much more. It has plenty of humor, heart, and romance, but it also contains a good dose of angst to keep your blood pumping and your heart racing. As someone who doesn’t like her love stories to be too easy, I always appreciate a few bumps in the road.
Abby Jimenez will always have a place on my virtual bookshelf, and I am already looking forward to her next book.
