The Shore is a story about letting go of the past, allowing your heart to mend, and learning how to trust in love again. It is a sweet story with likable characters that you will undoubtedly want to see find their slice of happiness.
Ryan isn’t looking for love. All she wants is to go to her family beach house for a week and unwind. Her last relationship left her betrayed and broken hearted. She isn’t quite ready to let down her barriers and risk having her heart broken again.
Cody hasn’t been interested in finding love since his last relationship left him completely devastated. Cody is a good guy, a proper southern gentleman, and when he offers to lend a hand as a simple act of kindness, he is reintroduced to an old acquaintance who he finds himself attracted to.
The Shore is a good debut novel that will appeal to readers who enjoy sweet love stories. The author does a great job of describing the setting for the book. This enables the reader to clearly visualize the characters and their surroundings. I’ll admit that I was ready to pack up and head to the beach after reading it!
Although it lacks the usual angst and heart palpitating drama that I am normally drawn to in my books, I still found it to be an enjoyable read. S.E. Brown has written a story that will make you smile, warm your heart, and leave you satisfied. The Shore is the first book in a series, but it doesn’t leave you hanging. The story between Cody and Ryan feels complete. I would definitely read another book by S.E. Brown in the future. The Shore would be the perfect addition to pack in your beach bag this summer.
