Tarryn Fisher is not the typical author whose book I would pick up and read.  I generally steer clear of authors who write romance books, it’s nothing personal, just my own personal preference.  But when I saw it sitting in the “Mysteries, Thrillers and Suspense” section, I thought that I had to check this book out.  When I saw that it was about a girl who loses her soul, I wanted to read it, and I am glad that I did.

Marrow grabbed me right from the start.  As I watched Margo grow up, I felt many things:  pity, anger, and helplessness.  This young girl is in an unfair situation, that unfortunately too many young people find themselves in.  The situation and the events of Margo’s life shape the woman that Margo will become.

I was exceptionally impressed with Tarryn Fisher’s writing.  She brought me into the life of this young girl and then when I was fully invested in Margo’s story, she sucker punched me with one of the best WTF moments I have read in years.  I flat out did not see that coming and I absolutely love it when an author can do it so well.

I would highly recommend Marrow.  It is a well written book with intricate characters.  Tarryn Fisher is an author who kept me turning the pages and wondering what was going to happen next.

*5 Stars and shit
