Whenever I’m in the mood to read a book that is a bit darker, one that will push me outside of my comfort zone and keep me riveted to my Kindle, Pam Godwin is high on my list of go-to authors. As soon as I saw that she was going to be releasing Knotted, a dark cowboy romance with her signature flair, I immediately added it to my list of must-read books.
I think that this book is just a case of it’s not you, it’s me. This book should have been exactly what I was looking for. It should’ve checked off all of my boxes. I wanted to fall in love with the characters and their story, but for some reason, I had a difficult time connecting to it. I will admit that there were a couple of spots in the book that made me take pause, but it’s fiction, and I was more than willing to go with the flow and see where the story was going to go. Unfortunately, I was never able to feel completely invested in the characters.
It’s never a good feeling to write a less than glowing review for an author that I have been a fan of for several years, however, if I’ve read nine books by her, and this is the only one that didn’t really work for me, I would still say that those are impressive numbers. I’m looking forward to reading more by Pam Godwin in the future.
