A Conspiracy of Faith is the third installment in the Department Q Series. This is the story of a cold…missing person case that was never reported. It falls on Carl’s desk through a message in a bottle.
What I love about the Department Q Series is how Adler-Olsen so effectively mixes together such dark, disturbing subject matter, with incredible comic relief. Professionally, Carl, Assad and Rose are a match made in Hell, but as far as the story in concerned, they are a brilliant creation. While reading A Conspiracy of Faith, I constantly interrupted my wife’s reading to tell her about Assad’s one liners.
This book is not so much a “who done it”, but more of a “cat and mouse”. We know who the villain is, but can Carl catch him before it’s too late? We get a deep insight into “who” the villain really is, why he commits his crimes, his motivation and his methods. A story like this is scarier than your traditional horror book. This stuff really happens! I am eagerly awaiting the fourth installment in the Department Q Series. I can’t wait to see what kind of trouble Carl gets himself into next.
