2 Book Lovers Reviews
The first thought that crossed my mind once I finished this book was this is why I read romance. Filled with so much emotion, passion and love, Allure pulled at my heartstrings and made me feel and live the story right along with Liv and Dean.
The story continues at the exact point where Arouse left off. The book is told from both Liv and Dean’s points of view, however, I felt as though it gave me a bit more insight into Dean. I love how the author incorporates flashbacks from past memories of both characters. The flow is perfect and effortless, giving the reader a glimpse into their lives before they met and when they were falling in love.
Nina Lane has written a beautiful story that is so realistic and authentic. There is no drama just for the sake of drama. It follows a realistic couple with realistic problems. This is what makes this book/series work so well and connect with so many readers. We can all see a bit of ourselves and our relationships in Liv and Dean West. We feel as though we know them, understand them, and want their relationship to heal and flourish.
Liv and Dean are still committed to making their marriage work, and to getting through the issues that have hurt them. The weeks when they were separated were unbearable for both of them. They have always been at their best and strongest when they are together. When a family emergency has Dean and Liv traveling to California, this brings a whole new set of issues for them to try and maneuver through.
While Liv is still trying to find her place in the world, Dean is still trying to protect her every step of the way. Dean is the quintessential alpha male, but his need to protect her is not necessarily overbearing or sheltering. Yes, he does want to shield her from being hurt, but his intentions are so pure and loving. In Allure, we get to see more of Dean’s insecurities and vulnerabilities, which only make him more endearing. How is that even possible?!
“Feel that?” he asked. “You’re the first woman who’s ever made my heart beat like that. You’re the first woman I’ve ever wanted to spend all my time with, the only one who could convince me to start a new life. You’re the first woman who’s ever made me genuinely happy. Who makes me glad to be alive, who makes me burn hotter than fire. You’re the first woman who’s ever made me afraid.”
Nina Lane has written a captivating love story. As a reader, I didn’t feel as though I was simply reading the words, I was experiencing the story. Throughout the good times and the bad, I was right there with them, feeling every single emotion right along with them. This is one of the most intense, emotional, passionate, sensual, romantic series that I have ever had the pleasure to read.
